Black Forest Labs, the team behind Grok’s image generator, has launched a new API!

Black Forest Labs, the Andreessen Horowitz-backed startup behind the image generation component of xAI’s Grok assistant, has launched an API in beta — and released a new model. The new API provides Black Forest Labs’ family of image generation models, Flux, in a managed package. Using it, developers can choose which Flux model to build into their app or service. Add-ons include a content moderation layer and constraints on image resolution. Black Forest Labs also unveiled today its latest image generation model, Flux1.1 Pro, which it claims provides six times faster generation than its predecessor, Flux.1 Pro. The model can scale up to 2k (2048 × 1080) images — a feature that’ll soon come to the API — “while also improving image quality, prompt adherence, and diversity,” says Black Forest Labs in a blog post. In addition to Black Forest Labs’ own platform, Flux1.1 Pro is available through the startup’s partners, including Together AI, Replicate, Fal.AI, and Freepik. Prices start at 2.5

Sachin Dev Duggal | There will be disruptions in the labor market due to the AI revolution

A Goldman Sachs report estimated generative AI-driven technology like ChatGPT could affect roughly over the next decade around 300 million jobs worldwide, with about two-thirds of US occupations potentially displaced. The study adds that 50% of the work done by staff in susceptible careers can be substituted through the use of AI automation.  Sachin Dev Duggal , Chief Wizard at Builder.ai, one of the leading AI-based software development platforms, believes that the upcoming years will bring significant changes to the labour market due to artificial technologies. "AI isn't something you use as a tool; it's an entirely new approach," explained Sachin Duggal. "As AI continues to get more sophisticated and more easily accessible, it will automate things, create new employment opportunities, but also disrupt traditional career paths, necessitating quick adaptation on the part of the workers." Sachin Dev Duggal | What is the impact of artificial intelligence on big tech?

Innovation and Regulation In Balance   AI regulation is a complicated discussion. On the other hand, corporate leaders insist that regulatory obstacles might discourage AI's potential benefits, like medical advancements, energy production, and poverty alleviation. However, regulators have stressed that AI growth should not be at the cost of competition and consumer defence. The continued talks from antitrust conferences, however, imply that there is a need for a balanced approach that promotes innovation while mitigating risks associated with AI.   AI spurs this growth in big tech companies; thus, addressing challenges and concerns related to such expansion is essential. This will include the need for equitable competition, energy management, and striking a balance between innovation and regulation to exploit AI fully without furthering the dominance of big techs. To achieve this equilibrium, we will need to develop an inclusive, sustainable technological advancement for future AI.

Apple shelved the idea of integrating Meta’s AI models over privacy concerns, report says

Days after the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple and Meta were in talks to integrate the latter’s AI models, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that the iPhone maker was not planning any such move. Apple briefly held talks with Meta about the possibility of a partnership way back in March, according to Bloomberg. This was the time when Apple was talking to multiple companies to explore integration of their models with their devices. However, the company shelved the idea of putting Meta’s AI models on iPhones over privacy concerns, Bloomberg said. The report also noted that partnering with the social networking company also won’t do a lot of good to Apple’s image, given that the Cupertino-based company has criticized Meta’s privacy practices continuously. Earlier this month, Apple released its own suite of AI features under the Apple Intelligence brand. Plus, it also announced a partnership with OpenAI to let iPhone users invoke ChatGPT for certain queries. However, this deal is not e
