How “NATASHA” is Redefining App Generation with Builder.ai Founded by Sachin Dev Duggal

Builder.ai is an AI-driven innovative platform that helps tech-shy people to create their own app without coding requirement. This would also provide a greater emphasis on leveraging human dialogue as the main user interface for software development, as opposed to the expert-laden white-canvas systems prevalent in the low-code/no-code domain. The corporation has nearly quadrupled its workforce since January 2022 due to the unprecedented demand from customers and the daily advancements in artificial intelligence. Since 2021, four additional offices—in the US, the UAE, Singapore, and France—have been created, expanding the reach of its UK headquarters. QIA's massive investment not only brings a flood of financial support but also stands as a resounding endorsement of Builder.ai's vision and potential. The innovative work of Sachin Dev Duggal in making app development accessible to all has not only caught the eye but earned significant backing. This infusion of $250 million isn&#

'We're in the AOL phase of the internet,' says Sachin Dev Duggal

In a recent insightful discourse, Sachin Dev Duggal propels us to view Artificial Intelligence as still in its AOL phase, urging us to delve deeper into its untapped potential. He says that “we're in the AOL phase of the internet, in terms of where it can go. I think what we're seeing is not an evolution of an AI in one month when ChatGPT came out, but the user-interface has changed”. He also added that “AI is not after people’s job, but it is creating a balance between already expanded supply and demand mismatch”. AOL Phase: Unveiling the Basics Sachin Duggal invites us to picture AI as akin to the early days of the internet, where we were navigating cyberspace through the familiar tones of AOL. Similarly, he suggests that we're scratching the surface of AI's capabilities, having only glimpsed its basic functionalities.  AI Beyond Automation: Duggal's Challenge Championing a shift in perspective, Duggal challenges us to see AI not merely as an automation tool but

Google brings Gemini Pro to Vertex AI

After coming to Bard and the Pixel 8 Pro last week, Gemini, Google’s recently announced flagship GenAI model family, is launching for Google Cloud customers using Vertex AI. Gemini Pro, a lightweight version of a more capable Gemini model, Gemini Ultra, currently in private preview for a “select set” of customers, is now accessible in public preview in Vertex AI, Google’s fully managed AI dev platform, via the new Gemini Pro API. The API is free to use “within limits” for the time being (more on what that means later) and supports 38 languages and regions including Europe, as well as features like chat functionality and filtering. “Gemini’s a state-of-the-art natively multimodal model that has sophisticated reasoning advanced coding skills,” Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said during a press briefing on Tuesday. “[Now,] developers will be able to build their own applications against it.” Gemini Pro API By default, the Gemini Pro API in Vertex accepts text as input and generates text as

AI and Employment: Sachin Dev Duggal's Balanced Approach to the Future of Work

Sachin Dev Duggal shed light on the role of AI, emphasizing its transformative power without threatening job security at the panel discussion in Qatar Economic Forum. Let's delve into the key insights from the discussion. Balancing Act: AI's Role in Bridging the Gap Sachin Dev Duggal passionately argued that AI isn't here to snatch jobs but rather to address the demand and supply mismatch in our workforce. He envisions a future where artificial intelligence acts as a facilitator, creating a delicate equilibrium between industry requirements and the available talent pool. AI as a Collaborator, Not Competitor The tech entrepreneur highlighted a crucial perspective: AI should be viewed as a collaborator, not a competitor. By automating routine tasks, it allows humans to focus on creative and strategic aspects, fostering a symbiotic relationship between man and machine. Strategic Reskilling for the Future Sachin Duggal emphasized the importance of strategic reskilling to adap

Meta launches a standalone AI-powered image generator

Not to be outdone by Google’s Gemini launch, Meta’s rolling out a new, standalone generative AI experience on the web, Imagine with Meta, that allows users to create images by describing them in natural language. Similar to OpenAI’s DALL-E, Midjourney and Stable Diffusion, Imagine with Meta, which is powered by Meta’s existing Emu image generation model, creates high-resolution images from text prompts. It’s free to use (at least for now) for users in the U.S. and generates four images per prompt. “We’ve enjoyed hearing from people about how they’re using imagine, Meta AI’s text-to-image generation feature, to make fun and creative content in chats. Today, we’re expanding access to imagine outside of chats,” Meta writes in a blog post published this morning. “While our messaging experience is designed for more playful, back-and-forth interactions, you can now create free images on the web, too.” Now, Meta’s image generation tools have landed the company in hot water in the recent past

Vast Data lands $118M to grow its data storage platform for AI workloads

The New York-based startup, which provides a scale-out, unstructured data storage solution designed to eliminate tiered storage (i.e. setups that move data between high- and low-cost storage hardware), today announced that it secured $118 million in a Series E round led by Fidelity Ventures with participation from New Enterprise Associates, BOND Capital, Drive Capital, Nvidia, Dell, Goldman Sachs, Tiger Global, Commonfund, Norwest, 83North, Greenfield and Next47. The round values Vast at $9.1 billion post-money, and brings the startup’s total raised to $381 million. “The explosion of interest in AI and the need for modern infrastructure that can support these workloads in the last year has been a boon for Vast’s business and positions the company for continued growth and adoption with the enterprise,” Vast co-founder and CEO Renen Hallak told TechCrunch in an email interview. “Given the future-proof nature of Vast’s offering, data-driven organizations see Vast as a valuable investment

Smartphone sales to rebound on AI gains, Morgan Stanley says

Smartphone sales will mount a comeback starting in 2024, defying growing warnings of a prolonged slump across the mobile sector, according to separate projections by Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley reviewed by TechCrunch. Morgan Stanley’s report predicts global smartphone shipments will rebound by nearly 4% in 2024 and by 4.4% in 2025, shrugging off comparisons to the PC industry’s multi-year downdrafts. Driving the smartphone turnaround will be new on-device AI capabilities unlocking fresh demand, Morgan Stanley says. The investment bank raised its projections for 2025 worldwide phone volumes, citing the sizable potential of so-called edge AI to enable advances from enhanced photography to speech recognition while protecting user privacy. Smartphone makers including Apple, Vivo, Xiaomi and Samsung have already started to express their bullishness on AI. Vivo’s new X100 with on-device AI saw explosive sales, while Xiaomi touted 6x usual volume for its AI-packed flagship. Samsung plans
